My Historic Preservation Story

Bio for Linda A. Garner, Real Estate & Historic Preservation Consultant

Linda A. Garner is a seasoned realtor and historic preservationist with over 30 years of experience in protecting and championing historic properties across Pennsylvania and Southern California. With 16 years of expertise in real estate, she has made a significant impact in preserving architectural treasures and helping clients buy or sell historic and unique homes.

Linda's passion lies in safeguarding post-WWII, Mid-Century Modern designs, and institutional architecture crafted by renowned architects who have shaped our cities. She has a proven track record of success in advocating for properties threatened by demolition and has been instrumental in shaping preservation policy.

As a former Historic Commissioner for the City of Pomona, California, appointed by the mayor, Linda served for four years, working tirelessly to preserve Pomona’s historic character through real estate and policy advocacy. She co-authored a "Demolition by Neglect" ordinance designed to prevent the purposeful deterioration of historic properties. Linda’s tenure also included collaboration with historic boards and organizations to tackle preservation challenges and projects.

Her advocacy extended to housing issues through her role as a long-time member of the Citrus Valley Association of Realtors' Governmental Affairs Committee, representing Pomona, California. In this capacity, she contributed to initiatives that enhanced affordable housing and addressed key housing concerns.

Linda’s clientele includes individuals seeking to purchase or sell historically significant homes or unique properties, including nationally designated historic homes. She is highly knowledgeable about historic preservation ordinances in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and California, as well as the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Her expertise ensures that clients understand the responsibilities of becoming stewards of these magnificent homes while navigating the nuances of historic preservation guidelines.
